Rapid Fiber Internet

Project Details

Rapid Fiber Internet (RFI), a subsidiary of the Suwannee Valley Electric Coop. (SVEC), headquartered in Live Oak, Florida serves fiber-optic internet to the tri-county area. The service area is divided into three construction phases and forty feeder zones. As the fiber infrastructure build-out expands, they release new zones for potential customer sign-ups.

GISaaS manages this ever-expanding effort on our dedicated cloud GIS servers and the client’s ArcGIS Online portal. This involves the synchronization of the SVEC meter client data with the RFI data, exposing each zone for customer signups as assigned. And integrating opened service locations to a third-party who creates customer accounts and assigns installations. GISaaS also manages up to forty off-line capable mobile worker maps for installers to record the placement of Fiber Taps, NIDs (network interface devices), ONTs (Optical Network Terminals), and overhead, underground, and patch-cables used in the customer installations. Various maps, applications, and GIS dashboards were developed to assist management and operations in visualizing and tracking these efforts.
