GFY provided field assessment and analysis for the circulation pattern at the Winding Waters K-8 School in Hernando County. The FDOT contacted the school and requested improvements to the circulation plans since backups during the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times were spilling over into the mainline US 19 northbound lane, a 60-mph posted speed major arterial and that represented a significant safety issue for FDOT.
GFY conducted field investigations and observations during the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times and developed a plan to modify the traffic circulation and add a new northern entrance to the school that will separate the K-3 traffic from the 4-8 traffic. The plans were approved by the Hernando County School District, and now the GFY team is negotiating the design of planned improvements.
