What is Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)?
Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) is the process of accurately locating and identifying underground utilities to help support the design and construction of engineering projects.
Rapid development and growth in urban and rural areas have contributed to the expansion and overcrowding of underground utilities. From the first phone lines to gas mains, water mains, and fiber optic lines, these utilities need to be properly located and identified for the design and construction of civil projects.
SUE | THE GFY WAY
George F Young is a respected subsurface utility engineering company that has been performing non-destructive utility designating and locating since 1995 and has successfully completed projects for private and public clients across Florida. GFY maintains a separate department devoted exclusively to providing SUE, utilizing electromagnetic designation, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and non-destructive vacuum excavation techniques.
Our team is an expert in Subsurface Utility Engineering utilizing all the Quality Levels A, B, C & D recognized by the Federal Highway Administration and as depicted in the ASCE Standard 38-02.
GFY can assist with local municipalities requirements of underground utility service connections and Directional Drilling Policies to prevent damage to existing underground facilities.
